This place is being built one patient, one family, one dream
at a time.
If you'd asked us ten years ago whether we'd one day build a Wellness Center, we might have laughed. Well — Violet probably would have said, "Maybe..." because she always has another idea brewing. The truth is, this wasn't something we planned. It was something we were called into.
As a Family Medicine physician, Violet spent years caring for patients with diabetes, heart disease, obesity, autoimmune conditions, and cancer — in Uganda and across America. Helping people live with chronic disease was deeply rewarding work. But one question kept rising to the surface:
What if we could help people stay healthy before they ever got sick?
That question became deeply personal. Violet watched her father, Henry Mutebi Kityo, navigate chronic illness while she was still in medical school in Uganda. When she was accepted into the Northeast Iowa Family Practice residency, he told her: "Go to the US and learn how to cure diabetes." Those words never left her.
Trent's father, Rick Alva Hunter, walked his own long road with chronic illness, including diabetes. Then, in early 2024, Violet's mother — also named Violet Nassuuna — was diagnosed with cancer. She received integrative care at a center in Florida, and what we witnessed there changed everything.
It wasn't just the medicine that stood out. It was the approach — nutrition, movement, therapies, emotional support, and medical care all working together toward one goal: helping the body heal. Not every service was in the same building, but they were all available and coordinated. It showed us something we've never forgotten:
Healing doesn't happen from just one angle. The body is connected. Health is connected.
Watching both of our families face chronic disease made us stop and ask: what kind of future do we want for ourselves — and for our children?
We didn't want the next generation to simply inherit disease. We wanted them to inherit healthy habits. We wanted our family — and Violet's patients — to have every opportunity to live healthier, fuller lives. That's where the dream for the Wellness Center truly began.
Violet had the vision. Trent made sure it had walls — after finding the building first. While Violet was dreaming about what could happen inside, Trent quietly became an expert in remodeling, coordinating contractors, and solving problems no one saw coming. He also occasionally reminded Violet that "No... we probably don't need to knock out that wall."
Together, we created something much bigger than a clinic. We created the place we wish our own parents had access to years ago.
Today, the Wellness Center brings healthcare providers and wellness professionals together under one roof — primary care, functional medicine, nutrition, movement therapies, massage, fitness, mental wellness, and recovery services. Our goal is simple:
To make it easier for people to find the care they need — all in one place.
Healthcare should be proactive, not just reactive.
Wellness isn't one appointment — it's a lifestyle.
No one should have to piece together their own healing journey.
Healthier communities begin with healthier people.
Whether you're here because you're sick, because you want to prevent illness, or because you're simply trying to become the healthiest version of yourself —
Welcome.
We're so glad you're here.
